CALENDARIUM

Calendar effects are among the most powerful routines in mental magic. The idea is simple and instantly understandable to any spectator: a date is named—and something personal appears on that date in the calendar. A lucky card. A number. A symbol. It turns out that the performer already knew this information in advance.

Calendarium is my long-developed version of this effect. It’s built for practical use: at the table, for walk-around performances, with quick resets and without unnecessary memorization. In the Digital Edition, you get the entire system—various routines, information, the “app,” and documentation—as an instantly usable package.

Just how powerful Calendarium is could recently be experienced by participants of the “45th Magical Sternfahrt Saalbach.” When I performed the “Feminine Calendar” variant in my seminar, jaws dropped among everyone present, resulting in the few copies we had brought selling out instantly.

The Effect:

The spectator names any date—birthday, anniversary, or any random day. They check which card is assigned to that date in the calendar: (their personal lucky card). Depending on the routine, you can now present this card as a prediction or as a match.

Optional—and this is the dramatic addition that elevates the effect from a neat card trick to something deeper: the Nordic Number. A four-digit number that you can instantly name or write down without calculation or memorization. It appears in the calendar on the named date. And in the finale: engraved on a medallion from your wallet (the Al Koran Gold Medallion effect realized with a calendar)—all WITHOUT having to memorize 366 numbers and their corresponding dates.

What the Digital Edition Provides

Calendarium was previously a physical product with a calendar and add-on files. The Digital Edition is the complete transition to a digital system—for magicians who prefer working with apps, PDFs, and structured online instructions. The digital version is an HTML file that contains everything. It can be downloaded and opened in any standard browser. However, you should use at least a tablet, preferably a laptop or desktop, as working on a phone with its small screen doesn’t make sense.

The System Per Day

Every calendar day is linked to a structured world of symbols—not as esoteric gimmicks, but as dramatic tools. You can connect a birthday to a Tarot card, a rune, a gemstone, or a chakra. You can build storytelling. Or you can just show the lucky card—and leave the rest in the background. The creative possibilities for your calendar routines are vast. The included app helps you instantly retrieve the relevant information for any day and incorporate it into your calendar.

For each day of the calendar, the table includes:

The Mystery Number: the basis for many assignments

The Nordic Number: the four-digit number for the medallion effect (unique for each day, no calculation required)

The Lucky Card / Memodeck Position: direct connection to Juan Tamariz’s Memodeck

The Major Arcana cards, runes, lucky stones, planets, elements, colors, chakras, zodiac signs—everything you need to really "supercharge" the calendar effect.

Why digital?

You enter the relevant data into your own pocket calendar by hand—using your own handwriting and at your own pace. The master table provides all values pre-calculated. The app serves as your reference tool on your computer and simplifies creating a calendar correctly.

For the performance, you’ll still need a pocket calendar (a standard promotional one will do) and—depending on the routine you choose—a deck of cards. Everything else is ready digitally.

Note

Calendarium is not a plug-and-play miracle that requires no preparation. You’ll need to obtain any pocket calendar (or, for stage performances, a large, beautifully designed one) and fill in your calendar once (preferably by hand to make it look authentic). You can also use an old calendar, provided there’s still space for entries on the days. The year doesn’t matter. After that, you can perform with this calendar again and again. What you get from me is a system that has proven itself in practice—because it was built by a practitioner for magicians.
