The Cardpool Convention

I am pondering all the time whether or not to attend this year’s Blackpool convention. I love the Wintergarden’s, the magicians and I love the Ruskins.

I love meeting pals, strolling through the dealer’s hall, watching lectures and all this. And the pints, of course …

BUT — what really frightens (and detains) me is the vast amount of card magic I would be facing there. Nonstop, at all times and everywhere. Moves, flourishes, ideas, unfinished routines, concepts, attempts …

In the past years, doing card tricks everywhere around the convention has apparently become state-of-the-art. Therefore: The ‚Cardpool Convention‘.

Not that I don’t like card tricks per se (I do even do some), but then at such a big convention I would absolutely love from time to time to see something else demonstrated to me besides the cards …

So, if someone were to promise to show me a couple of non-card items, then I would reconsider going to the ‚Cardpool Convention‘ this year. I might even take my box with me and return the favour with a couple of reels. Probably I wouldn’t Carey (pun!) a deck with me … 🙂
